I have separated the surnames of the ancestry of my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Smith. Mary Elizabeth Smith was born in Barren County, Kentucky on 14 August 1906 to Elon and Genie (Hooten) Smith. The Smith family lived in Barren and Madison Counties in Kentucky and prior to that lived in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. Their roots were also in Virginia. I am still actively researching this family and will continue to add new findings.

During the 1920s William moved from his home in Barren County where the Huffman family lived for over 100 years to Vermillion County, Illinois to a small town named Rossville.
