Roger Clapp

logoRoger Clapp was born to Preserved Clapp and Sarah Newberry in Northampton on 24 May 1684. On November 28, 1706 he married Elizabeth Bartlett. Elizabeth Bartlett was born on 27 October in Northampton. Her parents were Samuel Bartlett and Sarah Baldwin. Roger and Elizabeth had 9 children together. Roger was a Captain in the military, like his father and grandfather before him. He was also a representative to the general court.

Roger died in 1762 at the age of 78 in Northampton, Massachusetts. He is buried at the Bridge Street Cemetery in Northampton. His tombstone (pictured here) says, "In Memory of Capt Roger Clap who dyed Jan 9 Anno Dom 1762 The Memory of the Just is Blessed." He is buried next to his wife Elizabeth who died on 9 August 1767.
